Pine Ridge School Performance in Cross Country »
 Pine Ridge School has a very good cross-country program. In the past eight years, the Thorpe's have been state champions six times. 1995-1996-1997-1999-2000-2002.
The 2003 Thorpe's Cross Country team again won the State Class A Championships in Huron on October 25, 2003 , on a cold snowy day.

The Thorpe's were lead by junior Patrick Grass who his third individual championship, followed by Alex Pine who finished 4th. The White Plume brothers who are identical twins finished next for the Thorpe's. Zuya finished 11th and Nupa who had gotten hurt during the week finished a respectable 30th place. The pushers were Alcapoane White Calf and Tyrone Good Buffalo.
The girls team finished 5th with freshmen Robin Webber leading the way with a close 2nd place finished followed by her sister Christy Webber. Junior Angel Fisherman was next then 7th grader Sophia Janis, followed by pushers Jeri Lyn Cottier, and Misty Yellow Bull.
The Thorpe's were awarded the boys and girls combined championship for the best boys and girls cross country team in the state of South Dakota . This is a first ever for the Thorpe's, and a very prestigious honor.
Pine Ridge won meets at home, and at Douglas , Red Cloud, Kadoka, Belle Fourche , Hot Springs , Custer, Eagle Butte, Rapid City , Todd County , Gordon and several others.
The team had a fabulous season, and earned the respect of all other school with running programs. The Junior varsity did great as well and they look forward to joining track this spring and the varsity team in the future.
